High School DxD honestly does have a lot of merit as a show; it may not be the most high quality program out there, but it has its times of greatness. The show revolves around a school that has demons in it; the demons run a club at the school and initiate a young pervert into their ranks. This young pervert actually turns out to be really strong; almost as strong as his desire to lose his virginity.
The show itself has a pretty weak, generic story line. It includes the typical high school with the typical high school club, while putting in the typical supernatural/evil element in there to add a bit of spice. The thing it has that most of the other supernatural, slice of life shows don’t have in them? Loads of naked girls and boobs. Basically, if you are not a fan of the ecchi genre, then this show is a total waste of time because there are very similar shows with story lines that have much better construction elements. That being said, for the ecchi genre – this show is right on the money and is better than a lot of them out there.
For what this show is, it is actually really good. It is smut and it does it really well with a story line that kind of makes the show look like it’s not all about looking at boobs. I have to say I am actually intrigued to see the main character grow, and finally lose his virginity in the process. Honestly, the show is actually just a lot of fun. The opening is just atrocious, but it really isn’t all that cheesy and actually blends good programming with boobs which isn’t done well a lot of the time.
